Terms and conditions

1. Who we are and what this is

Scoutopedia (“we”, “us”, the “Service”) is a football scouting and analysis platform available at scoutopedia.com. These terms are the agreement between you and us whenever you use the Service — as a visitor, an account holder, a paying subscriber or an advertiser. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

We may update these terms as the Service changes. The date above says when they last did, and material changes to a paid feature will be flagged before your next renewal. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the revised terms.

2. Accounts

Parts of the Service work without an account. An account unlocks the analytical features and is free; you need to be at least 16 years old to create one. You are responsible for keeping your credentials to yourself and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been compromised.

One account is for one person. Sharing a paid account’s credentials around a scouting department is the thing the paid tier exists to price, and we may suspend accounts that are plainly shared.

3. Premium subscriptions

The premium tier adds features (currently the analysis for every competition we hold, and written scout reports) for a recurring fee, billed monthly or annually. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details go to Stripe and never touch our servers. The billing contract is deliberately simple:

  • The price shown at checkout is your price for as long as the subscription runs, even if we reprice for new subscribers later.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time in the billing portal on your account page; access then continues to the end of the period you have paid for and nothing renews after it.
  • If a renewal payment fails, we keep your access open for a short grace period while Stripe retries the card. If payment cannot be collected, the subscription lapses and your account simply returns to the free tier — nothing is deleted.
  • Statutory rights aside, fees already paid are not refunded pro-rata on cancellation; what you paid for stays open until it runs out. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us and we will put it right.

4. Advertising

The perimeter boards on the tactics pitch can be booked on the advertise page under their own rate card. Advertising is also billed by subscription through Stripe, and in addition: every creative (new or edited) is subject to our review before it is shown; we may decline or remove advertising that is unlawful, misleading, or that we judge unsuitable for the Service without liability beyond ending the associated billing; and airtime figures we report are measured in good faith but are not a guarantee of impressions or outcomes.

5. Your content

Shortlists, ratings and scouting notes you create are yours. They are stored scoped to your account, readable by nobody else through the Service, and we claim no rights over them beyond what is needed to store and display them back to you. Advertising creatives you submit remain yours too, but you grant us the licence needed to display them on the Service while your campaign runs, and you warrant that you hold the rights to everything in them.

6. The data and what it is for

The football data on the Service is compiled from third-party providers and our own processing. We work hard to present it honestly — including saying plainly where a statistic is not measured — but we do not warrant that any figure is complete, current or error-free, and the Service is provided “as is”.

The analysis is decision support for scouting and general interest. It is not betting advice, and no figure on the Service is a representation about the outcome of any fixture. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for financial decisions of any kind.

7. Acceptable use

  • Do not scrape, crawl or bulk-extract the Service’s data. Reading the pages in a browser is the supported way to use it.
  • Do not resell, republish or redistribute the data or analysis as a dataset or a competing service.
  • Do not probe, overload or interfere with the Service, attempt to access other accounts’ data, or circumvent access controls or payment.
  • Do not use the Service for anything unlawful.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. Where practical we will warn first; where the breach is abusive, we will not.

8. Intellectual property

The Service — its software, design, text, and the compilations and derived analytics we produce — is protected by intellectual property rights and remains ours or our licensors’. Club names, player names, competition names and badges belong to their respective owners; their appearance here is referential and implies no affiliation or endorsement.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Subject to that: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from reliance on the data; and our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is capped at the greater of £50 and the amount you paid us for the Service in that period. The Service depends on third parties (hosting, payments, data feeds) and we are not liable for their outages, though we will always work to route around them.

10. Ending things

You can stop using the Service at any time, cancel any subscription in the billing portal, and ask us to delete your account by contacting us. We may withdraw features or the Service itself with reasonable notice; if you have paid for time the Service then does not deliver, we will refund that part.

11. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the United Kingdom, and the courts of the United Kingdom have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your country of residence grants you rights that cannot be excluded. The United Kingdom comprises three legal systems — England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland — and “United Kingdom” or “UK” in these terms means whichever of them applies to you: the law and courts of the part of the UK you reside in or, if you reside outside the UK, of England and Wales.
